On April 23, 2023, our detachment, the American Legion Post 156, American Legion Columbia Post 300, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7472, Scout Troop 540, and Howard County Civil Air Patrol Composite Squadron participated in a flag retirement ceremony.
The United States Flag Code, Title 4, Section 8k states
The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem of display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.
