Report of officer: Commandant announced that 14 April will be seminar in VFW Anne Arundel Detachment. 17 March will be a banquet in honor of the Veteran of the year. Commandant also offered a copy of the quarterly report to any member who wishes one. The detachment has put together a library of magazines and books see Stan Brosky to borrow the books. Commandant made mention that at our next meeting any detachment member who wishes to share their experience in the Corps will be allow to do so starting our next meeting. 26, 27 and 28 April will be the 2012 convention. 4 Delegates will be needed from our detachment.

Unfinished Business: Do not do anything with regards to writing on your cover at Department level they will be coming out with a uniform guide line on how it is done. They are also doing away with year stripe.
Commandant thanked all members for working the Toys-4-Tots program. Marine Pastino wants to give Toys-R-Us a certificate of appreciation. More info to follow.
New Business: Motion to give Kevin Oliver $1000.00 to help with living Expenses while he recovers from his Surgery Motion made and 2nd motion passed by all present.
Announcements:
Trip to Parris Island 9th thru 15 Oct more info to follow the Commandant will supply additional info to anyone interested in the trip.
Next Quarterly meeting will be in Westminster, MD March 10.
Our Detachment must supply a copy of our Bylaws to the Department. J/A Marine Saki will handle the above task.
Commandant read email sent by Marine DJ making a recommendation to have a monthly get together.
Doug Putts’ son has enlisted in the Marine Corps and goes to Paris Island in June.
Marine Shames Garrity has died due to cancer; talk to Mike Betts for more info.

Good of League: Marine Brosky discussed new flags “U.S. and Marine” and banner. Marine Betts will have these items if and when needed for detachment uses.

Sick or distressed: Bob Walton still doing well. Commandants’ mother in-law passed away.
Report of officer: Sr. Vice gave an update on his surgery and a thanked everyone in the Detachment for the funds sent from the benevolent funds we have to assist him during his recovery time.

Report of Standing Committees: Pistol match update. All forms have been sent in. Match will be 1, 2, 3 June 2012.
Curtis has provided Airline tickets; tickets expire by March 2013. J/A will put a poster up at Ellicott Mills Brewery for a raffle to win the tickets. Road Clean-up for 2012 is April 14, 2012 and it is also on the web page.
Scholarship committee: Saki has packages ready to go out and has tried to contact Dennis Starliper and has not heard from him to date. Gordon MacPhee will head up this year’s committee consisting of Mike Betts, Bill Pastino and Kevin Oliver.
Report of Special Committees: Dinners need to have more help from the current group of members.
Rhonda is making an effort to bring awareness to the Wounded Warrior program hosted by Booz Allen Hamilton and is looking for support from our detachment and possibly from some of our sponsors.

New Business: Mike Betts asked if the Detachment is going to host cook out at Bethesda for the wounded Marines and wounded Military personnel.
A motion was put on the floor that a $500.00 donation will be made to the Detachment. Will the attachment match with $500.00? Motion made and carried. The Detachment will match the funds.
Announcements: Tony Beganwald will be honored at a dinner for Veteran of the year and Mike Betts is asking for our Detachment to purchase and ad for $50.00. Motion made, second and carried.

Announcements: Stan Brosky addressed the topic of our detachment hosting a basket bingo. The Last one our detachment sponsor netted our detachment about $4,700.00. A motion is on the floor to host this again. Stan also strongly encouraged each member to seek out basket donations and basket sponsors. Motion made second and carried.
Good of League: Mike Betts and Joe Roman attended the quarterly staff meeting. Mike gave a report to the detachment of what happened. They have also come back with raffle tickets. Motion made and seconded that the detachment buy one hundred dollars worth of these raffle tickets which are for the Department of MD Convention Fund raiser.
Motion made to give each deligate one hundred dollars to help defer the cost of attending the convention. Motion was second and past.
Marine Betts also stated that the Department strongly suggests that all detachments keep their web sites current.
The department will be hosting a leadership seminar to help any Detachment member holding a position that wants to know in depth what their job is.
Marine Kippenbrock addressed all present with regards to Marine of the year. 2008 was Joe Roman and Mike Betts was 2009 and Curtis Atkins was 2010 as Detachment Marine of the year. We still have to nominate a Marine of the year for 2011.
Mike Betts made a motion to place an ad in the convention brochure at a cost of $100.00. Motion second and past.
Kevin Oliver: Motion made and passed for up to $100.00 for the hospitality suite.
Kevin Oliver announced camping trip on 21 April 2012 and also info with regards to combat shooting.

April 24, 2012
1. We received a thank you letter from Toys-4-Tots for $650 in monetary donations.
2. MCL convention – Joe Roman & Mike Betts are going. Joe has raffle tickets for the convention at $10 apiece.
The detachment is buying $100 worth of tickets and we are also donating $100 to the Hospitality Suite.
Also $100 stipend to both Joe & Mike to help with their expenses.
3. We would like all officers who received a guideline book to turn them over to the new officers for this year.
4. We will announce our Marine of the Year winner at the next meeting.
5. Basket bingo is set for September 16th at the same Laurel senior center. Stan Brosky will have more Info to follow.
6. Booz Allen is donating $250 to our Scholarship fund. Kudos to Saki for getting this!
7. We presented Gordon MacPhee with his MCL Life membership Card.
8. 2000 hours – Officer Nominations officially closed, Elections to follow.

Unfinished Business: Detachment Marine of the year has carried over to tonight’s meeting. The Marine of the year award was given to Danny Rotondo.
New Business: Commandant asked Chuck about tickets for the Friday evening parade. Chuck gave an update on how to go about getting a group to this event. If you are interested in going talk with Chuck Casey he can assist with small groups.
Announcements: Chuck’s daughter Emily graduates this year and wanted to thank the detachment for the scholarship funds she received. Chuck gave an update and also announced that she already has a job in her field.
Commandant Mac Phee reminded all members to keep recruiting, to build up our ranks.

Good of League: VFW will be having their cookout on Monday and will be having their ceremony at Meadow Ridge at 1100 hrs. It is a brief ceremony.

At 1903 hrs a break was taken to introduce scholarship winners. Commandant Mac Phee gave a brief synopsis of each winner.

Report of Standing Committees: Basket Bingo report giving by Marine Stan Brosky including report of funds was read and then given to Paymaster Graham. All checks were presented to the commandant.
Any questions regarding this event contact Marine Stan Brosky. Commandant Gordon Mc Phee presented a certificate of appreciation for a job well done. Remainder of funds for the basket bingo will be put into general funds. Note: One Thousand dollars will go to Marines Helping Marines.
Toy-4-tots: Bill Pastino has spoke with the management at Toys-4-Us and can start the weekend of Black Friday. A request for additional help from the ranks was put forth by Commandant McPhee with regards to reaching into our membership pool so we can add and an additional weekend.
Marine Oliver will be trying to get extra Toy-4-Tots boxes and posters to distribute to whomever might need them.
Marine Roman discussed the possibility of doing hot dog sale fund raisers again at the Wal-Mart in Ellicott City to try and reignite this fund raiser while Wal-Mart is under construction. Marine Roman recommends that we put a letter together for management at Wal-Mart to explain where the funds were sent to.

New Business: Sgt. Santiago who was injured during war time. Chuck Casey brought a request to the Detachment with regards to a donation to help equip Marine Santiago’s home to assist with his disability. Betts made a $750.00 motion, motion was seconded. Discussion within the group that more information is needed to proceed after finding more information out about the organization and proving the validity of it. Mike Betts will check out the details and vet the company.

Announcements: Stan Brosky will be hosting the Taylor family when they come to town 11 Nov 2012 to attend the Marine Birthday Cake cutting and Veterans celebration. Stan will coordinate with Bill Pastino.

Quarterly Meeting Minutes from Detachment
March 10, 2012
Since the last Quarterly, our detachment has been engaged in the following activities:
• Assemble our scholarship committee for our annual scholarship to be award in July of 2012.
• Set dates for our 2012 Adopt-highway program.
• We are currently doing two fundraiser dinners each month at the Jessup VFW post. We cook on the second and fourth Friday of each month. If you are in the area, dinner will be served at 1800. Stop in and enjoy a great meal.
• Our detachment voted at our last meeting to fund the August cookout at Walter Reed in Bethesda.
• Nine of our detachment members will be heading off to Fort Indian Town Gap to attend the PA MCL annual pistol match.
